Obituary of George Tony Anthony Ward

George "Tony" Ward was born in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England to Francis Hugh Ward and Mylee Chance Ward. Later that year the family moved to Vancouver, B.C. and in 1932 Tiny went to live with his grandfather in Sydney, Australia. He was admitted to the Royal Australia Naval Academy in 1939 as a Cadet Midshipman. At the outbreak of WWII he left Australia to be with his mother who was living in Stamford, CT and became a US citizen in 1942. He served with Army in the South Pacific during WWII and was discharged in 1946. Tony graduated from Yale in 1950 and became a banker in Stamford, CT. Ever the banker he moved to Tucson in 1960 to join the Arizona Bank and retired in 1985. Tony was preceded by his loving wife and best friend of 37 years Phyllis Ward. He is survived by his brother David Ward and his four children, Wendy Bolz, Timothy Ward, Geoffrey Ward and Susan Muir, all of South Florida and 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
