Obituary of Isidra Haro

Isidra was born in McDade, Texas, on May 15, 1923 but moved at an early age to Chicago, Illinois. She proudly worked at U.S. Steel at the South Works plant, with a multi-decade career as an oiler at a time when very few women worked in the industry. She married Luis Haro in 1958, and together they raised 4 children - Luis Haro Jr., David Haro, Andrew Haro, and Gloria Davis. Isidra loved Chicago, and her 5 siblings and their families that called the city home. Luis and Isidra moved to Huntsville, Texas in 1986 to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to her daughter in 2017. Isidra was an avid bowler (go team H3O!) in Chicago, a prime-time senior dancer in Huntsville, and frequently volunteered in her community. Isidra was a mother figure to many in both Chicago and Huntsville, opening her home and her heart to countless people. She enjoyed cheering on the San Antonio Spurs and the Chicago Bulls, and was a huge dog-lover. Isidra was an independent, strong-willed, thrifty, smart, compassionate woman who will be missed by many. Isidra passed away at the age of 98 on August 3, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Haro; father Hermenegildo Ochoa; mother Alejandra Aldape; siblings Marcella Ochoa, Toby Ochoa, Marie Pelaez, Victor Ochoa, and Anna Valencia; and son David Haro. Isidra is survived by her son Andrew Haro (Joy), and daughter Gloria Davis (Jack) and Daughter-In-Law Andrea Haro; Sister-In-Law Helen Ochoa; grandchildren James Haro, Jennifer Smock (Gary), Samantha Davis, Alexander Davis, Andrea Davis, Christopher Haro, Thomas Haro and Myra Haro; great-grand children BreeAnne Haro, Vera Lynn Haro and Parker Joy Smock; great-great grandchildren Carmen Stephensky and Evin Conard; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and countless friends. She will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.
