Obituary of Dorothy Jean Young-Shaw

Dorothy Jean Young-Shaw born March 6, 1945 to Leroy and Nettie Mae Young in Cairo, Illinois.  She was the fifth born of her thirteen siblings.  She graduated from Sumner High School in 1964.

Later moving to Peoria, Illinois with her family, Dorothy started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses at an early age and was convinced that the Bible was the word of God and contained the truth that guided her for a wonderful lifestyle.  She later dedicated herself and symbolized her love for Jehovah by getting baptized at the International Convention in Chicago, Illinois in 1972.  Anyone who knew her would have to agree that she was candid, charismatic, and diligent in the preaching work and truthful.

Dorothy married Leon Shaw with three beautiful children.  In her children’s youth, she enjoyed studying the Bible with them and instilling the word of Jehovah in their young minds.

She enjoyed many different career outlooks during her life beginning with obtaining a degree in Business from Mid-State Business College.  She also worked for the City and County of Peoria as a Parking Meter Maid.

She moved to Denver, Colorado in 1974.  There she attended Denver Community College obtaining a Registered Nursing Degree.
