Obituary of David Clem Groeninger

David Clem Groeninger

The world has lost a very special man but has gained a very busy guardian angel. David Clem Groeninger, August 11, 1942 - March 18, 2023, passed away in a kayaking accident while visiting family in Arizona.

Dave was born in Evansville, IN to Edward and Mathilda (Knapp) Groeninger. He attended St. Anthony Catholic grade school, Mater Dei and North High School. In 1960 he met the love of his life Jo Dickerson, on a blind date. Jo and Dave were married for 62 years.

Dave had a lifelong love of Fords, especially Mustangs. He’s a former member of The Olde Tyme Auto Club, The Pony Express Mustang Club and the Indiana Shelby American Automobile Club.

Dave had a servants heart and was involved in many volunteer organizations including St. Vincent de Paul.

Even more than Mustangs and community service, he loved his family. He loved being a part of the lives of his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He has so many friends and was loved and respected by many. He will be so missed by so many.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Jo Avery Groeninger. His daughters, Terri Groeninger Scott and Traci Groeninger (Chris) Winstead. Grandchildren Chase Winstead (Dylan) Murphy, Madison Scott (Tyler Price), Colton Winstead, Spencer Scott, and Cali Winstead. Great-grandchildren: Dakota Winstead, Theo Schaefer, Meyer Murphy and Archer Murphy. Siblings Betty Wolf, Paul Groeninger, and Carol Grubbs.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mathilda Groeninger, brother Ronald and sister Juanita.

Services to be announced at a later date.
