It was my privilege to hire Veronica for my team at the Arizona Corporation Commission and work with her for many years. The one thing I required of all my staff was excellent customer service. Veronica embodied that spirit more than anyone else I’ve ever worked with. She was compassionate, an excellent listener, and truly cared about helping everyone she worked with. Over the many years we worked together she filled many roles. She took on each new challenge and always did her best. She never complained, no matter what the assignment was. I learned about her fear of heights from one of her co-workers only after I had her spend the day on a very tall ladder stretching computer cables through a high ceiling. We lost track of each other when she left the Commission, but she returned a few years later for my retirement party. That deeply moved me. Unfortunately, we then lost track again. I never knew about her battle with cancer. I myself have survived two bouts with cancer and can empathize. Veronica was a special, unique individual. She will be missed.
