Obituary of James N Rumph

OBITUARY JAMES NATHANIEL RUMPH JULY 18, 1944 - NOVEMBER 11, 2014 James was born on July 18, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from South High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1963. As a young man he was a talented artist and he enjoyed reading. James met his wife Carolyn in 1960; they were married on December 7, 1968. James had a deep love of animals, especially horses. As a result of that love of horses, he owned several of them for a number of years. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends. He also served in the military for three and a half years. When he returned to civilian life he was employed in a variety of jobs and retired from the Postal Service in 1995. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in August of 1996. James dedicated his life to Jehovah and he and Carolyn were baptized on July 29, 1978. James served as a congregation elder since 1986 in the Beechview Congregation in Pittsburgh, PA; Allegheny Congregation in Pittsburgh, PA; West Allegheny Congregation in Pittsburgh, PA; and most recently at Westridge Congregation in Avondale, AZ where he had the privilege of serving as an elder along with his son Tony. James also had the privilege of pioneering for several years and was able to attend the Pioneer Service School in the summer of 2001. James was preceded in death just three and a half months ago, by his mother the late Catherine Rumph Davis. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Rumph, of Tolleson, AZ; two daughters, Angela Walker of Maricopa, AZ and Jennifer Rumph of Tolleson, AZ; one son Tony Rumph of Waxahachie, TX; one daughter-in-law Melissa Rumph; three grandchildren Charlie, Luke, and Ezekiel Geske. Also, an older brother Charles M. Rumph; younger sister (Rev. Dr.) Jo-Ann J. Rumph-Smith; brother-in-law (Rev. Dr.) James C. Smith; two aunts and many extended family members and friends.
