Obituary of Kelly Dawnelle Davis

Kelly Dawnelle Davis

Mrs. Kelly Davis died peacefully in Chandler Regional Hospital on April 4th, at the age of 65.

She was born Kelly Dawnelle Johnson on December 20, 1957, in Mason City, Iowa to Ms. Shirley Johnson.  Kelly was separated from her parents at an early age along with her sister Kim Johnson.  The sisters were further separated in the Iowa foster care system, and eventually placed into different homes, but remained in touch.

Kelly attended high school and although active in sports, she received an academic scholarship to attend Northern Iowa University where she met her first husband, Maurice Kincaid.  The union produced two offspring:  Keith Gerard and Kacey Renee.  The couple moved to Tucson, Arizona in the early 1980’s and soon separated.

Kelly’s love for the Lord grew as she found strength and comfort in being challenged as a single mother.  In early 1983 Kelly found employment with McLane Sunwest, which continued to allow her to fulfill her dreams in retail management.  She achieved various promotions and acclaim during her thirty five year tenure.

In 1988, she met her spouse, Thomas, and it was love at first sight.  Kelly and Thomas were married in December of 1992, after over 3 years of courtship.  The couple eventually moved to the Phoenix metro area and Kelly became a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where she served faithfully until being called home to the Lord.

Kelly’s interests were joyful and various as she achieved a Master’s Degree in Business Management, excelled at public speaking with the Toast Masters organization, taught Storytelling classes at South Mountain Community College, and became immersed in the Children’s Ministry at the Church.

She enjoyed:   sports with basketball being her favorite, old black and white movies, 1960’s era TV westerns, dining out, traveling, and shopping…as she had a flair and talent for fashion.

Kelly always greeted people with a warm smile.

Kelly is survived by her husband, Thomas Davis, of Phoenix, AZ.; her children, Keith Gerard Kincaid and Kacey Renee Kincaid, both of Phoenix, AZ.; and grandchildren, Xavier Miklas, Dawnelle Heatherly, Marcus Heatherly Jr., Daisy Heatherly, and Moses Heatherly.  She is also survived by a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins from her extended family and friends that loved her.

She is proceeded in death by one sister, Kim Johnson, of Mason City, Iowa.
