Leonardo Figueroa

Obituary of Leonardo Figueroa

Leonardo Antonio Figueroa, 72 passed on November 20, 2023 in Phoenix, AZ

His smile could light up a room…he was the life of the party. He made me feel like I could do anything. I remember him catching me when I fell off my bike as a child…he helped my brother and I buy our homes…he never met a stranger and I got my LOVE of water from him. He never stopped calling me to check in most of the time. He was a wanderer…an adventurer…a free spirit who loved exploring…he was a collector of memories, not things. He loved talking to people and most of all he loved the memories he had from his homeland, the Dominican Republic. His eyes would light up and his heart would burst with pride when he spoke of it. He loved his family something fierce…and only ever wanted to make his father proud of him. In the end…he was sweet…and gentle, a lover of Christ…and he was very forgiving. He loved to sing and dance…he was a big part of my dancing as well. I loved him my whole life.  I was so blessed to spend his last few days on this planet holding his hand, reminiscing and loving him. He felt it and went very peacefully…with family by his side. He made me strong and unapologetic…I will forever be grateful for the strength he gave my siblings and I…and he is solely responsible for my addiction to sunflower seeds and the ocean. I love you, Dad. May God guide you on your next journey. Peace be with you!
